Welcome to Solar Energy Home For Solar PanelsSolar Energy Home is a wholesale supplier and installer of Solar PV Systems. Solar Energy Home was setup in 2007 as a small contribution to a greener world. Since then we have been working with builders, house owners, architects and local authorities.
We are primarily a wholesale business supplying every component needed for a solar PV system including panels made by Sanyo, Sharp, Yingli, ET Solar, SMA inverters, K2 and ClickFit mounting systems. To allow us to offer a complete service we became MCS accredited to carry out solar PV installations.
As experienced solar PV specialists we also offer free support to our customers both before and after sales.
Many customers comment on how good our prices are. So please allow us to prove this by giving you a quote.

About Solar PV Panels
Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity which can be used by household appliances. Solar PV cells are usually made of two layers of the semi-conducting material silicon. When sunlight shines on the cell electric field is created across the layers. The output of solar PV cells is measured in kilowatt peak (kWp) which is the amount of electricity produced in full sunlight. A typical residential solar PV system maybe about 3kWp. Over a year this size of system will produce about 2575kWh in the ideal conditions of a south facing roof, pitched at 30 degrees and with no shading. An average UK house uses about 4000kWh per year. A kWh is the amount of electricity consumed or generated in an hour. For example, A 100W light bulb over 10 hours will use 1kWh (10 hours x 100W).
At Solar Energy Home we only source the highest quality MCS approved products. Our current range includes Sanyo, Sharp and Yingli solar panels, K2 mounting systems and SMA inverters.
Solar Panels for your home
A Solar PV system in the South of the UK will produce more output than one in the North although the difference is not huge. You can call us for an estimate or use the Energy Saving Trust online calculator at energysavingtrust.org.uk/cashbackcalculator. For a decent size solar PV system you will require good amount roof space, pitched around 30degrees, ideally facing south and with no shading. Solar panels are typically around 1.6m x 1m which means a single panel requires about 1.6m2 of roof space. So you will need around 16m2 for a 10 panels system which maybe of the order of 2.2kWp to 2.5kWp. For a bigger system you will need more roof space. It is important to avoid shading over your panels. Even if only one panel is shaded it affects the performance of the whole system. Typical objects to cause shading are trees, chimney tracks, other taller buildings etc. Shading early in the morning or late in the afternoon is not as bad as between 10am to 4am. At Solar Energy Home our designs will cater for such issues.
Governments Feed-in Tariff (FITs Scheme
The Governments Feed-in Tariff, also known as the "Clean Energy Cash back" scheme rewards all homeowners who get solar electricity systems installed on their houses by paying them for the electricity that their system generates. The way the scheme works is that you will get paid a minimum amount for every unit of electricity you generate (currently 43.3p/unit). For every unit you generate but do not use you will also get paid (currently 3p/unit). These payments are index linked and guaranteed for 25 years. Of course the amount of electricity you generate depends on the size of the installed system so it often pays to install as large a system as your roof space and budget allows. There will be an OFGEM approved generation meter installed to measure your amount of electricity your system is generating. It is advised that you use as much of the electricity you generate as possible. This will save you having to buy electricity from the grid at around 12.5p/unit. Therefore its a good idea to run appliances such as washing machine and dish washer during the day when your system is producing electricity.
